Grieving the loss of a beloved pet

Pets hold a special place in our hearts and lives. They offer companionship, comfort, and unconditional love, often becoming much more than just animals. They are family, friends, and daily sources of joy. When we lose them, the grief can be profound, even if those around us don’t always understand or acknowledge it.

Grief is a natural response to loss. It arises when we lose something or someone deeply meaningful to us, and that includes the pets we’ve bonded with, cared for, and shared our lives with. When this grief is misunderstood or dismissed, it can feel incredibly isolating.

That’s why it’s important to have a safe, empathetic space to talk about your feelings, without judgment. Permitting yourself to grieve and recognising the depth of your loss is an important step in healing. Be kind to yourself during this time. What you’re feeling is real and valid.

I understand the unique bond between humans and animals, and my pet loss counselling is grounded in the belief that grief after losing a pet deserves care and attention, just like any other kind of bereavement.

Because pets are more than companions—they are soulful beings with distinct personalities, emotional presence, and unwavering affection. They offer a sense of comfort, connection, and love that is deeply missed when they’re gone.

Grief can look different for everyone, sometimes, one session is enough to begin finding peace.  Sometimes it takes a little longer — and that’s okay.

I offer calm, compassionate support to help you process the loss of your beloved pet at your own pace. You don’t have to face this loss alone. Support is here for you.
